SHKN stands for Seniors Health Knowledge Network and is the umbrella organization founded in 2005 that includes the Alzheimer Knowledge Exchange (AKE) as well as the Ontario Research Coalition (ORC). Seniors Health Knowledge Network provides free access to evidence-based information and best practices to paid care providers who care for seniors in long term care, community care or within the SHKN Communities of Practice.
Four seniors’ health information specialists working out of partner library sites in Ottawa, Guelph, Toronto and Hamilton offer literature searches, document delivery, topical reading lists, publication notices and more. Once a caregiver has become a member they are entitled to free personalized research service from the Information Specialists which include the free delivery of research articles by mail or fax.
